Halle Berry hasn’t had the best luck when it comes to her love life – but at least the stunning Oscar winner has a sense of humor about it all! “There was no man I wish I could marry more than Muhammad Ali,” Halle said during her speech for the 17th Annual Celebrity Fight Night event on March 19 in Phoenix.
“I’m sorry!” she exclaimed, turning to Muhammad’s wife, Yolanda Williams. “But if I would have just married Muhammad Ali, I would not have any of these man problems I’ve been having!”
Though Muhammad, who is on his fourth marriage, may not have been the best pick for the actress, following two divorces of her own, Halle split with her boyfriend of four years, Gabriel Aubry, in April 2010. The exes have a daughter together, Nahla, who turned 3 this month.
Despite his relationship record, Halle says that she has known Muhammad “for so many years” and that the world-famous boxer helped her come to terms with her identity as a mixed-race child. “For so many years, he was the epitome of what a man should be. And being a little girl of color, who was struggling to find her own identity, who was fatherless … Muhammad Ali was someone I always looked to and held as an image and a model of man that I hoped one day to find,” said Halle, before adding, “… and I’m still looking for that guy!”
Noticeably absent from the fundraiser was Halle’s latest flame, Olivier Martinez.
