Al Manzo, husband of Real Housewives of New Jersey star Caroline Manzo, has found himself in the kind of scandal that might be a better fit for the show!
The businessman, who owns event and catering space The Brownstone with his brother Tommy Manzo, is being sued by a former employee named Lanise Jackson, who claims that the brothers regularly hurled racial and ethnic slurs at their workers. She is suing for discrimination and says that the Manzos created a "hostile work environment," according to the New York Daily News.
The lawsuit couldn't have come at a worse time for the Manzo family. Caroline, an original RHONJ cast member, recently left the show to pursue a Bravo spinoff, Manzo'd with Children, which follows her family - Al, plus their kids Albie Manzo, Chris Manzo, and Lauren Manzo. A pilot is in the process of filming and features The Brownstone heavily.
And that's not all. Lanise's lawyer claims that the venue was "filthy" and "roach infested." She's also claiming that she worked more than 40 hours a week but was denied overtime pay. "The allegations are just horrible," her lawyer says, adding that Al and Tommy said "all kinds of racial stuff."
Tommy is in the middle of a divorce from Dina Manzo, Caroline's younger sister, who was on the first two seasons of RHONJ and is returning this year. The two sisters were feuding, reportedly about Dina's friendship with Caroline's Housewives rival Teresa Giudice, but say they have since mended fences.
