XXXTentacion was awaiting trial for a 2016 domestic abuse case when he was shot and killed in June. Now, Pitchfork has obtained a secretly recorded tape of the 20-year-old seemingly confessing to assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

In the clip, the Florida rapper can be heard saying, “I put my source of happiness in another person, which was a mistake initially, right? But she fell through on every occasion until now. Until I started f–king her up bruh. I started f–king her up because she made one mistake. And from there, the whole cycle went down. Now she’s scared. That girl is scared for her life. Which I understand.” Earlier in the clip, he said, “I will kill that b—h if she play [sic] with me.”

The 27-minute recording was reportedly acquired from the Miami-Dade County state attorney’s office. According to the office, XXXTentacion’s defense  — as well as the prosecution team — considered the tape a confession.

The “Moonlight” rapper also referred to a separate stabbing incident on the tape. “I’m on [Miami] New Times for stabbing. How many people they put [sic] in the news? They said three? It was eight,” he seemingly admitted.

According to the Sun Sentinel, police were “searching for the person who stabbed three people during a fight in Deerfield Beach” back in January 2016. No one has been charged, but a Broward County Sheriff’s Office report from the incident states that a witness “saw an unknown black male with tattoos on his face swinging a knife in multiple directions.” XXXTentacion confessed to the stabbing of a former manager as well, an incident that he was arrested for on July 14, 2016, before being released on bond. These instances were mentioned on the tape to explain why his ex-girlfriend was scared for her life. “She’s seen this shit,” XXXTentacion said. “She know [sic].”

The up-and-coming star, whose real name is Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, previously spoke to his fans on Instagram Live about the impact he wanted to make on the world — and some think he predicted his untimely death.

“If worse thing comes to worst, and I f–ing die or some s–t and I’m not able to see out my dreams, I at least want to know that the kids perceived my message and were able to make something of themselves and able to take my message and use it and turn it into something positive and to at least have a good life,” he said in the eerie video.

He continued, “If I’m going to die or ever be a sacrifice, I want to make sure that my life made at least five million kids happy or they found some sort of answers or resolve in my life regardless of the negative around my name, regardless of the bad things people say to me,” XXXTentacion said. “I don’t give a f–k because I know my goal in the end and I know what I want for everyone and I know what my message is. I just wanted to say, I appreciate and love all of you and I believe in you all.”
