Rapper Silentó (real name: Richard Lamar Hawk) was charged with two felonies after allegedly attempting to attack two strangers with a hatchet, In Touch can confirm. A September 3 press release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office says the “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” musician is facing two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Authorities claim Silentó, 22, walked into a Valley Village home in Los Angeles, California, over the August 29 weekend and “attempted to strike the two people in the home with a hatchet.” The alleged victims were able to disarm the star. The rapper is set to be arraigned on Friday, September 4.

The press release states Silentó was “out on bail or his own recognizance” for a separate arrest in Santa Ana, California, at the time of the alleged attack. His bail for the new felony counts was set at $105,000. If convicted of the crime, the rapper could face up to six years in prison.

ABC reports the Georgia native was initially arrested on Friday, August 28, on charges of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant regarding an alleged attack on his girlfriend. The outlet says the Los Angeles Police Department believes he was looking for his girlfriend when he allegedly entered the strangers’ home at the time of the second attack. Thankfully, no one was harmed.

The Fresh Outta High School musician broke onto the music scene in 2015 when he was only 17 years old with the release of his debut single, “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae),” which went viral. Five years after its release, the music video has racked up over 1.7 billion views on YouTube. In November 2019, Billboard called the track one of the 100 songs that defined the 2010s. When he was still just a teenager, the Atlantan reached out to producer Bolo Da Producer on Instagram to ask if he would work on the song.

“I knew what I wanted [the song] to be, so I made sure I accomplished what I needed to before I graduated,” Silentó told Billboard during an interview in 2019. “I stuck to the plan, and I made my dreams come true.”
