Congrats Pete Wentz — you’re officially part of the celebrity death hoax club!

A fake news story with the headline, “Man Takes Selfie Moments Before Deadly Shark Attack,” hit the web late last week identifying Pete as James Crowlett, a 34-year-old insurance salesman from Oregon who had tragically died in a freak shark attack after capturing the epic, underwater selfie.

The article was accompanied with Pete’s real underwater selfie photoshopped on top of a terrifying shark pic—an image that was circulating around Tumblr last year.

Pete, ever the good-sport, even Tweeted about the hilarious hoax:

Aaaaand because we thought the photoshopped pic of Pete with the shark was just too funny, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to create a few more!
