‘Bluff City Law’ (Drama, NBC)

‘Broke’ (Comedy, CBS)

A comedy about Jackie (Pauley Perrette), a single suburban mother who’s shocked when her estranged sister, Elizabeth (Natasha Leggero), her sister’s outrageously wealthy, big-hearted husband, Javier (Jaime Camil), and Javier’s fiercely loyal assistant/driver/friend, Luis (Izzy Diaz), land on her doorstep in need of a place to live after the couple’s money dries up. Though class differences may separate the women, and the size of the house and the number of people living in it will test the limits of family ties, the familial bond of sisterhood might be the catalyst they need to restore their relationship.

‘Carol’s Second Act’ (Comedy, CBS)

Emmy Award winner Patricia Heaton stars in this comedy about a woman who embarks on a unique second act after raising her children, getting divorced and retiring from teaching: pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor. At age 50, Carol is a medical intern and must sink or swim with peers who are half her age. It’s her enthusiasm, perspective and yes, even her age, that may be exactly what will make her second act a great success.

‘Council of Dads’ (Drama, NBC)

When Scott, a loving father of four, has his entire life’s plan thrown into upheaval by an unexpected health scare, he calls on a few of his closest allies to step in as back-up dads for every stage of his growing family’s life. ‘Deputy’ (Midseason Drama, Fox)

‘Duncanville’ (Animated Comedy, Fox)

Animated family comedy centered around a spectacularly average 15-year-old boy with a rich fantasy life, and the people in his world. Like most 15-year-olds, Duncan (Amy Poehler) can see adulthood on the horizon: money, freedom, cars, girls … but the reality is more like always being broke, driving with your mom sitting shotgun and babysitting your little sister. A sheriff takes in a young child she finds near the site of a mysterious accident who has no memory of what has happened. The investigation draws her into a conspiracy larger than she ever imagined, and the child’s identity is at the center of it all.

Psychological mystery that examines the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion. If that wasn’t enough, the Monreauxes are stunned to learn that Eugene fathered three illegitimate children, all of whom are written into his will. Now, Margaret must use her business savvy and Southern charm to control her newly legitimized heirs, whose very existence threatens the Monreaux family name and fortune. With monumental twists and turns, not to mention lies, deceit and shade from every direction, Filthy Rich presents a world in which everyone has an ulterior motive — and no one is going down without a fight.

Serialized legal and family drama about a prisoner who becomes a lawyer, litigating cases for other inmates while fighting to overturn his own life sentence for a crime he didn’t commit. His quest for freedom is driven by his desperate desire to get back to the family he loves and reclaim the life that was stolen from him. Told through the window of his ferocious struggle and his complicated relationship with a progressive female prison warden, it also examine the flaws and challenges in our penal and legal systems. Katy designs clothes for anyone she can, including her friend and roommate Josie, whose singing talent catches the attention of Alexander Cabot (Lucien Laviscount), a CEO who hopes to reboot the record label division of his father’s corporate empire. ‘Mixed-ish’ (Comedy, ABC)

Taking a cue from Young Sheldon, this one is a prequel to Black-ish, with Rainbow Johnson (Tracee Ellis Ross serving as series narrator) recounting her experience growing up in a mixed-race family in the ‘80s and the constant dilemmas they had to face over whether to assimilate or stay true to themselves. Bow’s parents Paul and Alicia decide to move from a hippie commune to the suburbs to better provide for their family. As her parents struggle with the challenges of their new life, Bow and her siblings navigate a mainstream school in which they’re perceived as neither black nor white. This family’s experiences illuminate the challenges of finding one’s own identity when the rest of the world can’t decide where you belong. The cast includes Arica Himmel, Tika Sumpter, Christina Anthony, Mykal-Michelle Harris and Ethan Childress.

‘Nancy Drew’ (Drama, CW)

Nancy Drew (Kennedy McMann) is a brilliant teenaged detective whose sense of self had come from solving mysteries in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine — until her mother’s untimely death derails Nancy’s college plans. Devastated by her mother’s passing, Nancy swears off crime-solving while crossing off the days until she can re-apply to college. ‘neXt’ (Midseason Drama, Fox)
