Alright, Alright, Alright: A Look Back on Matthew McConaughey’s Most Iconic Roles
When it comes to Hollywood actors who have stood the test of time, Matthew McConaughey most definitely tops the list!
Ultimately, his career began as Wooderson in the classic ‘90s flick Dazed and Confused and has been on a steady rise ever since. (If the iconic “alright, alright, alright” scene doesn’t immediately come to mind, sorry, we can’t be friends.)
It wasn’t until 2003, however, that Matthew really became a beloved household name. Sure, he had starred in a handful of classic films to that point — Ahem, Angels in the Outfield and The Wedding Planner — but none were quite as universally cherished as How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
Starring alongside Kate Hudson, Matt played a playboy type named Ben who slowly, but surely managed to win over the audience by the end of the movie. After How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Matthew became *thee* staple of what a male lead in a RomCom should be. With that, the Texas native went on to star in many more, including Failure to Launch with Sarah Jessica Parker and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with Jennifer Garner.
Don’t get it twisted, though, Matthew is a bona fide actor. In fact, his serious roles have been just as impressive, if not more, than his silly ones. Scroll through the gallery below to see Matt’s most iconic film and TV roles over the years.
