Rejoice, Disney Channel Fans! Marnie and Kal From ‘Halloweentown’ Are Dating IRL and It’s Too Cute
Remember the Disney Channel movie Halloweentown? Well, Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Kountz — who played Marnie Piper and Kalabar “Kal” Jr., respectively, from Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge — are dating in real life, and we couldn’t be happier.
In the first Halloweentown, Marnie and her family beat Kalabar — who was an evil warlock — by using their combined magic. Then, in the second movie, Kal Jr. is defeated just like his father was. So, while there was no happy ending for the lead characters in the Disney Channel original movie, it seems like Kimberly, 34, and Daniel, 41, are in a great place these days.
The two were first linked in June 2018 when the brunette beauty posted a photo of herself kissing Daniel near a lamp post. “#InternationalKissingDay you say? I’ll just leave this right here then,” she wrote at the time. “#NationalKissingDay.”
So, how did the lovebirds end up together after filming their first movie together in 2001? “We’ve kept in touch over the years since we wrapped the second movie, and we’ve been friends on social media for a while,” the actress told Bustle in October 2018. “We hadn’t seen each other in a bit, and I wanted him to be in some of my original comedy sessions that I shoot for my YouTube channel. I ended up directing a short film about where Kal could be now, and [Daniel] graciously starred in it with some of my other friends from Second City, where I’ve been studying improv for a while. We shot that and that stuff on my YouTube channel kind of continued. It just naturally and very unexpectedly grew from that.”
The couple frequently posts pictures together on social media — from picking pumpkins to cooking together to attending weddings — and followers can’t seem to get enough of their relationship. “The response to that was amazing. There’s a fine line with being in the public eye and the media and my personal life, but it’s been pretty funny to watch the fans’ responses,” she noted after they went public with their romance.
For the handsome hunk’s birthday on October 16, Kimberly couldn’t help but gush about her love on Instagram. “Happy, happy birthday to the man that makes my days brighter, my smiles bigger and my world happier,” she wrote. “Your selflessness, love and care knows no bounds. I can’t wait to see what adventures await this next year for you, and ‘m so grateful I get to be a part of it. Happy birthday babe. @danielkountz.”
