Well, this is just a little awkward. In August 2018 — less than a year before Lori Loughlin was named as one of the individuals allegedly involved in a college admissions scandal — her daughter Olivia Jade Giannulli faced backlash for saying she was really in college for “game days” and “partying.” She later apologized for those remarks, which she made in a YouTube video. She said in the first video, posted August 14, “I don’t know how much of school I’m gonna attend, but I’m gonna go in and talk to my deans and everyone, and hope that I can try and balance it all … But I do want the experience … I don’t really care about school, as you guys all know.”

Lori, 54, was indicted on Tuesday, March 12, on charges related to a nationwide college admissions cheating scam, In Touch learned. The Full House actress, along with other defendants, was accused of “bribing university athletic coaches and administrators to designate applicants as purported athletic recruits,” among other allegations. Lori and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, allegedly “agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team — despite the fact that they did not participate in crew — thereby facilitating their admission to USC.” Those allegations make Olivia’s comments on college in the past seem even worse.

In the followup video on August 16, Olivia apologized and said in part, “I said something super ignorant and stupid, basically. And it totally came across that I’m ungrateful for college.” She added, “I’m going to a really nice school,” referring to the University of Southern California. “And it just kind of made it seem like I don’t care, I just want to brush it off. I’m just gonna be successful at YouTube and not have to worry about school. And I watch it back, and I read the comments, and I’m just really disappointed in myself … I know that it’s a privilege and a blessing and I’m really grateful.”

Lori’s older daughter, Bella, 20, also attends USC. No word on what either daughter thinks of the scandal, but Olivia’s previous comments are definitely not a good look in the wake of the situation.
