Liam Hemsworth Breaks Silence Following Split From Miley Cyrus: ‘You Don’t Understand What It’s Like’
Poor Liam Hemsworth. The Australian hunk broke his silence about how he was doing on Monday, August 12 — two days after it was revealed that he and his wife, Miley Cyrus, were calling it quits. “You don’t understand what it’s like,” the 29-year-old told Daily Mail Australia when he was asked about the split. “I don’t want to talk about it, mate.”
The Hunger Games actor was spotted in Byron Bay, Australia, with his brother Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky, and their children. Later that day, Liam made a trip to the frozen yogurt store in town where he looked sad.
Liam took to Instagram late on August 12 to confirm that he is now back on the market. “Hi, all,” he wrote. “Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated, and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward. This is a private matter, and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and love.”
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old pop star seemingly opened up about her ex one day after announcing her breakup. “Don’t fight evolution because you will never win,” she captioned a photo of herself on top of a mountain in the Dolomites of Italy. “Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once underwater, connected with Africa, change is inevitable. The Dolomites were not created overnight, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed.”
“My dad always told me, ‘Nature never hurries, but it is always on time’ … it fills my heart with peace and hope KNOWING that is true,” she added. “I was taught to respect the planet and its process, and I am committed to doing the same with my own … 💙.”
After fans became suspicious that Miley and Liam were not pictured together in quite some time, Miley was seen canoodling and kissing Brody Jenner’s ex Kaitlynn Carter on their Italian vacation. Then, on August 10, her rep confirmed the sad news and shocked fans all over the world.
“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” her rep told People. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
The former flames met on the set of their hit film, The Last Song, in 2009. The couple dated on and off for several years before they officially got back together in 2016. In December 2018, the pair tied the knot in a secret wedding ceremony at their home in Nashville. They were only married for eight months before they separated.
