What a class act. Liam Hemsworth took to Instagram late on August 12 to confirm his split from wife Miley Cyrus, and to share his wishes for the future. “Hi all,” began the 29-year-old Aussie actor. “Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward.”
It’s clear that Liam is hurting in the aftermath of the breakup. “This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets,” he explained. “Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love.”

Hi all Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward. This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love.
Fans were blown away by the touching sentiments, and rushed to the comments section to show Liam their support. “SUCH A GENTLEMAN♥️♥️,” wrote one fan. Another agreed, saying, “We love you LIAM. You seem like such a genuine person and remember that you will get through this.” Meanwhile, others couldn’t help but shoot their shot. “I volunteer as tribute to take Miley’s place,” wrote one brave follower.
Miley, 26, was the first to confirm the split via her rep on August 10. “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” the statement read. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
Right now, it seems both halves of the couple are trying to keep their minds off the sad development. Miley has been partying it up in Italy with cuddle (and makeout) buddy Kaitlynn Carter and her sister Brandi Cyrus, while Liam has been hanging out with his brother in their native Australia. We wish them both health and healing in this difficult time.
