They say Hollywood is a small world — we just didn’t realize how small! On Kim Kardashian’s latest Snap story, she’s hanging out with her neighbor, the one and only Kathy Griffin! And the redheaded funny lady showed off one of her prized posessions: A portrait painted by infamous murderer Erik Menendez! Check out the video to get the bizarre details!

We don’t know what’s the weirdest part of this whole thing — that Kim and Kathy are just casually neighbors in Calabasas who seemingly get together from time to time to compare their art collections (Kathy’s features art from criminals, Kim’s features spooky gingerbread houses made by her kids and niece and nephews). Or that, you know, Erik Menendez is a super talented painter, who has an affinity for Kathy Griffin. As it turns out, this isn’t a new “friendship” at all.

In 2010, she appeared on CNN and discussed the unconventional gift with Larry King. She gushed about the portrait and when Larry King asked if she was “thrilled” about it, she added, “Of course! As a comedian, this is heaven for me. When I saw that painting come, I thought to myself, ‘This is a nice painting, but what the heck am I going to do with a painting of myself — that’s weird.’ But then when I looked down and saw Erik Menendez, I thought, ‘This has to be framed.’”

Erik Menendez and his brother, Lyle, have been in the headlines recently as their case has been revisited as part of a new series, Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Brothers, airing now. Erik and his brother Lyle are both serving life sentences without parole for the 1989 murders of their parents, José and Kitty Menendez.
