So touching. Over the weekend, former Little People, Big World star Jacob Roloff announced that he is engaged to his girlfriend Isabel Rock, which means the youngest of the Roloff family will be next to tie the knot. The couple was showered by love from their friends, fans, and family — but the most important message that they received within 24 hours of making their big announcement came from a family friend of Izzy’s who said that her late mother Toni Garreton would have definitely approved of her fiancé.

Izzy shared a screenshot of their text message exchange on her Instagram story, and in the message, the family friend wrote, “I know you’ve probably heard this a lot already but your mom would be really happy. She would’ve LOVED [sic] Jacob.”

“Oh my gosh that makes me so happy especially because you knew her so well and you’d know more than anyone,” Izzy replied.

Izzy has been open about what was like losing her mother on the blog that she shares with her fiancé. In a blog post titled “Happy,” which was published in July 2017, she revealed that she lost her mother in 2014 (just one year before Izzy started dating Jacob) after a battle with cancer and she reflected about how important it was for her to hold onto her happiness even after her mom’s death. She shared a story about an encounter she had one week after her mom died when she was outside talking to a neighbor and another neighbor asked her why she was smiling even though she had just lost her mother.

Captioning this photo “I miss my mom” is a bit too obvious and repetitive to all of the posts I’ve ever written about her. She was my best friend. I know everybody says that about their mom but I mean we did everything together. Friends would ask me to hangout and almost always I would’ve rather hung out with her. Now I know why, I didn’t have much time. I especially miss the deep talks about life, singing in the car, house hunting on Sundays where we’d go to all of the super fancy open houses and pretend we were going to buy them 😏 I’d always say “I call this room!” and we’d giggle and laugh the car ride home. I remember one time in particular after one of those days I said to her, through tearful eyes, “Mom, I know you are sick but you have to grow old enough for me to write my book, and then I’ll have the money to build your dream house. It’ll be just like those fancy ones but better, exactly how you’d want it.” She’d just smile her warm, comforting smile. I still want to build you that dream house, Mama. Just now you’ll be able to appreciate it in a different way. 💗

“As if I didn’t have a right to be doing that. As if she expected me to be hysterically crying at every given moment. As if I’m not the type of person to naturally find a silver lining in every situation,” Izzy wrote. “If you know me, you know this is how I have handled most of my pain. I have found a reason, a lesson, anything to make light of a dark situation. Because to me, I do not believe in the alternative.”

It looks like she is continuing to find happiness with her new fiancé, Jacob, and earlier this month, she gushed over him in a birthday tribute. “Jacob, I mean…You’re such a dream, such a dream come true,” she wrote on Instagram. “There aren’t enough hours in the day to tell you how much I love you.”
