Friends forever. Ian Ziering, who played Steve Sanders in Beverly Hills, 90210, shared a sweet memory about his costar and right hand man Luke Perry one day after his tragic passing.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, March 5, the 54-year-old actor shared an adorable throwback picture of himself, Luke, 52, and his wife, Erin Ludwig. The late actor can be mistaken as a construction worker, fixing up a fence while in the midst of photo bombing the couple’s maternity pictures … but all for a great reason!

“The day Erin and I were shooting maternity pictures, Luke decided I needed a fenced-in area to keep the baby safe in my backyard.” Circa 2011. #riplukeperry,” the father-of-two captioned his post.

On Monday, March 4, the ’90’s teenage heartthrob passed away at age 52 after he suffered a massive stroke, In Touch confirmed. “He was surrounded by his children, Jack and Sophie, fianceé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, stepfather Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder and other close family and friends,” Luke’s rep, Arnold Robinson, said Monday. “The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”

Luke starred as Dylan Mckay on 90210 from 1990 to 2000, and continued on his legacy through his character on CW’s hit show Riverdale, where he played Fred Andrews, Archie Andrew’s loving father. The Buffy alum was beloved by actors and actresses all across the entertainment industry which can be seen through the heartwarming tributes on social media.

Shortly after his death was confirmed, the Sharknado actor took to Twitter to honor his friend and fellow actor in an emotional statement. “Dearest Luke, I will forever bask in the loving memories we’ve shared over the last thirty years. May your journey forward be enriched by the magnificent souls who have passed before you, just like you have done here, for those you leave behind.”

In Touch has learned that production for CW’s Riverdale, which films in Canada, was put on hold to allow for the drama’s cast and crew to mourn their co-star and friend. The following joint statement was released on behalf of Riverdale‘s executive producers, Warner Bros. TV and The CW:

“We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. A beloved member of the Riverdale, Warner Bros. and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.”

Luke kept his personal life out of the spotlight, but he was, just like his character on Riverdale, a big family man. The Ohio native was married to Rachel for 10 years, before getting divorced in 2003. Together, they had two children, Jack, 21, and Sophie, 18, both of whom were by his side when he passed away. According to Radar Online, Luke’s children will inherit his fortune.  “Luke loved his kids more than life itself,” the source explained.

Our hearts go out to Luke’s friends and family during this tough time.
