Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown thinks he has a little competition on Dancing With the Stars in James Van Der Beek — not with his dance moves but with his swag. The 38-year-old shares that the Dawson’s Creek alum definitely has the upper hand when it comes to swooning the ladies, and himself.

“I can tell you that every time James Van Der Beek starts dancing, I feel like America’s going to get pregnant,” Karamo told In Touch exclusively at McDelivery Night In with McDonald’s and Uber Eats on September 17. He added that he had an eye for the actor back in the day and joked, “The 11-year-old little boy in me that had a crush on him is like, ‘Why are you still hot? Like I don’t get it?’” Luckily for Karamo, he said James is one of the cast members he has “bonded the most with.” We guess dreams do come true!

All jokes aside, Karamo said he, himself, is his biggest rival on the dance floor. “The thing is like, some of the people [sic] are much older, some of the people have like, legit backgrounds in dance and I don’t have that,” he said of his celebrity competition. “I just am like somebody who like, looks at a Beyoncé video and like tries to copy it. So I’m like, as long as I keep pushing myself, I know that I’ll be the best.”

He did say that when it comes to his Queer Eye counterparts, he is “the dancer the group.” He continued, “I have the best rhythm but JVN has a little bit.” Adding, “He [Jonathan Van Ness] did suggest that I get a wig and do some hairography. “I don’t know how they’re going to feel about that, but I’m down for it.”

Karamo also shared that although he may be the “Confidence” guy on his hit Netflix series, he hasn’t been able to work his magic on himself just yet. “Literally, I give pep talks to people, I can help them through their emotional traumas and triggers. But literally, for me, I have not been able to help myself through it.”

He said while he can’t pick himself up right now, he is lucky to have a partner who can help lift his spirits. “I need somebody who is confident in this to tell me I can do it. I know after week two and three I’ll have that and be able to remind myself. But right now, I haven’t been giving myself any pep talks.” We can’t wait to see Karamo kill it on the dance floor!
