Jon and Kate Plus 8… plus a guardian. Former reality stars Jon and Kate Gosselin reportedly let their co-parenting relationship get so bad, the court appointed a guardian to step in and advocate for the children.

According to Pennsylvania court docs obtained by Radar Online, on Aug. 25, 2017, a high-profile female attorney was appointed Guardian Ad Litem in the tumultuous exes years-long custody battle.

The report comes just one day after the outlet claimed their son, Collin — who was sent to a treatment facility more than two years ago — looked like he’s “been to hell and back.”

A source close to the family confessed, “He wasn’t this happy, full of energy kid I remember,” they said, before adding that Jon tried to “cheer him up and keep him in good spirits.” They continued, “I feel like he grew up so fast in the couple of years he’s been away. Hopefully, he gets out soon.”

Collin is one of eight children Jon and Kate share. They are parents to 14-year-old sextuplets — Collin, Hannah, Alexis, Aaden, Leah, and Joel — and 18-year-old twins Maddie and Cara, who were all previously featured on their reality series. It was Kate who initially sent Collin to an away-from-home program, reportedly because she felt he had to be there to get specialized attention as a child with special needs.

In August 2016, Kate claimed she had to deal with everything on her own. She said, “Collin has special needs. [There’s] a fairly fluid diagnosis of what those needs are, but he needs to learn certain strategies to help him deal with things. This has been a struggle we’ve had for a very long time, and it’s one I’ve dealt with on my own. I’ve felt very alone in this. By the same token, it’s not something that has only impacted me or him — our entire family has been impacted.”

But after Kate was a no-show at court recently, Jon won temporary custody of Collin. Not to mention, earlier this year, he gained custody of Hannah, and she lives with him permanently. Now that Collin is gearing up to be released from the facility soon, it looks like he’ll be going straight to his dad’s house — hopefully in time for the holidays.
