Jon Gosselin Has No Idea Where Son Collin Is After Kate Reveals He’s Enrolled in Special Needs Program

It’s been nearly eight years since Jon and Kate Gosselin filed for divorce, but it doesn’t seem like their co-parenting skills have improved! Recently, the father-of-eight — who expressed concerns regarding son Collin’s whereabouts in the past — claimed he’s out of the loop when it comes to his child with special needs. “I have an idea of where he is, but I don’t know exactly where he is… I mean, I ask but she [Kate] doesn’t tell me. She doesn’t answer any of my texts,” he said.

After an episode of Kate Plus 8 aired over the summer, during which Kate Gosselin‘s busy brood turned 13 — yes, they’re officially teenagers! — fans found themselves frowning instead of rejoicing. Viewers were shocked to find that one of her sextuplets, Collin, wasn’t there to celebrate with the rest of his siblings — 17-year-old twins Mady and Cara and fellow 13-year-olds Aaden, Alexis, Hannah, Leah, and Joel. In 2016, he was enrolled in a program that assists children with special needs.

Fortunately, the young reality star is thriving in his new environment. A source close to the mother-of-eight told Hollywood Life, “Kate doesn’t want Collin on camera very much because all the stimulation can be difficult for him.” They added, “Kate decided to send him to a facility because she thought it was best for him. Now it seems that Collin is flourishing, and he’s responding very well to one-on-one instruction. He definitely finds it easier to function and cope better without all the chaos that his home life entails.” We’re so happy to hear!

In August last year, the 42-year-old opened up about her struggle to deal with this on her own. She said, “Collin has special needs. [There’s] a fairly fluid diagnosis of what those needs are, but he needs to learn certain strategies to help him deal with things. This has been a struggle we’ve had for a very long time, and it’s one I’ve dealt with on my own. I’ve felt very alone in this. By the same token, it’s not something that has only impacted me or him — our entire family has been impacted.”

Her comment on being “alone” took a not-so-subtle jab at Jon, who she’s previously accused of being a “drug dealer” and having inappropriate relations with their daughter, Hannah. In the police report obtained exclusively by In Touch last year, Kate claimed Jon once “kidnapped” Hannah by taking her from school; Kate told police “that she detects suspicious behavior between Jonathan and their [then] 10-year-old daughter.” An insider told In Touch that the allegations upset Jon. “Jon had no idea at the time that she accused him of having an inappropriate relationship with Hannah. He was upset when he found out.”
