Colorado dad Chris Watts was sentenced to life in prison yesterday for the brutal slayings of his wife and their young daughters. Now, his former neighbor reveals she’s “relieved” the heartless killer will never be able to walk the streets again.

Cheryl Hallowell, who lived just two doors down from the 33-year-old in Frederick, CO, told Radar Online that she cried when she heard the news.

“My husband, he called me and told me that he got a life sentence and said ‘thought you should know so you could be relieved,'” Hallowell, 68, told the outlet. “I was already crying because I so was happy.”

Watts was given three life sentences without the possibility of parole, but she believed he deserved something more torturous.

“I just wish we had the death penalty,” she said. “I hope somebody kills him in prison. It’s just wasted space. This guy killed kids, he was just really bad. Nobody understands why he had to kill them.”

Prior to his sentencing, sources said Watts “yelled and cried” before deciding to plead guilty.

“Their evidence against him was overwhelming,” the source told People of the cold-blooded killer — who was charged with killing his wife Shan’ann Watts, 34, and their daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3. “There was some yelling and some crying, but eventually he acknowledged that his life was over after he killed Shan’ann. He would have been facing years of legal challenges and best-case scenario he would have been acquitted. Worst-case scenario, he gets put to death.”

Before being sentenced for the murders, Shan’ann’s father Frank Rzucek sobbed and repeatedly called Chris a “monster.” He said, “God only knows what happened that night but life will never be the same. They had all their lives to live.”

Weld County District Attorney Michael Rourke also described how Chris strangled his wife and smothered his two little girls.

“They were taken by a heartless one, taken by an evil monster the heartless monster. You took them out like trash. You disgust me.”
