She’s back on the big screen baby, one more time! Britney Spears will make a surprise appearance in the upcoming horror comedy film Corporate Animals, director Patrick Brice revealed at the Sundance Film Festival on Monday, January 28.

“The ghost of Britney Spears is in our movie,” Patrick said during a Los Angeles Times panel. It’s been 17 years since the 37-year-old appeared in the coming-of-age film, Crossroads.

“One of our characters — Calum Worthy’s character, Aidan — is obsessed with Britney Spears, and there’s a runner of him as he’s going crazy thinking that Britney is speaking to him from the walls,” the director explained.

Not only were fans surprised by the exciting news, but cast member Jessica Williams was equally shocked, since the secret was first revealed at the festival. “Wait, what is this?” the 29-year-old asked. “What? That is awesome. Wow, that’s awesome. I gotta hear the outtakes. I’m happy to have that energy in the film.”

So, how exactly did they get the pop star to sign on in the first place? “Through a series of connections were able to get 10 minutes of [Britney’s] time to record this, which was so awesome,” Patrick said.

Another star of the film, Karan Soni, added that the filmmakers came up with a list of artists, but weren’t sure who they could get. “We did a bunch of different versions, not sure who it would be at the end of the day,” Patrick added. Luckily this worked out because let’s be honest, Brit is the best!

In August 2014, fans got excited when they thought that a Crossroads 2 could happen. After Zoe Saldana gushed about working with Britney, the blonde beauty couldn’t help but respond on Twitter.

“@zoesaldana truly the sweetest, thx 4 the kind words. Nothing but great memories of working w u. Crossroads pt 2? ;)” she wrote.

For now, the Mississippi native is focusing on her family and taking a work hiatus, since her dad was hospitalized a few months ago. Even though we have to wait a little while for the singer’s return, at least we get our fix of Brit for now.
