Tom Cruise Wants to Reconnect With Daughter Suri After Time Apart

A fresh start. Tom Cruise is hoping to reconnect with his teenage daughter, Suri Cruise, in the near future, a source tells In Touch exclusively. The Mission: Impossible — Fallout actor’s relationship with Suri was rumored to be strained shortly after he and ex-wife Katie Holmes went their separate ways in 2012, but he’s now eager to be back in Suri’s life.

Apparently, there was recently a “dramatic shift” in Tom, 57, that has inspired him to consider reaching out. “He saw a photo of Suri looking all grown up, and it changed everything,” the insider exclusively tells In Touch, noting that the timing feels “right.”

“With Katie single again, and Suri not having a father figure in her life, it’s the perfect opportunity to reach out,” the source says, addressing how he wants to reunite “before it’s too late.”

The Hollywood icon hasn’t been photographed with his daughter since September 2013, so fans have long wondered if they remain in contact. “Tom has sacrificed the most important things in his life for Scientology,” believes the source. “If he ever were to escape Scientology, it would be because of his daughter.”

Katie, 40, and Tom’s little girl has grown up so much and she is already proving to be a fashionista with her recent appearances in New York City, having turned 13 earlier this year. Suri was spotted getting a manicure in the Big Apple while celebrating her birthday with a friend, as well as her nanny, who joined them for the special occasion back in April.

Katie has explained that her first priority is her daughter’s well-being and happiness, so it’s hard to say whether Tom will be welcomed with open arms or not. Now that the Dawson’s Creek alum is no longer with Jamie Foxx, 51, after six years together, Katie is hoping to find someone who can build a strong relationship with her daughter down the line.

“If they don’t tick that box, Katie’s just not interested,” another source previously told In Touch. The insider also said the producer is not opposed to having more kids in the future, but Katie won’t be settling for just anybody because she wants to find “Mr. Right.”

The actress recently gave a rare interview about raising her daughter, Suri, revealing that she was happy to become a mother in her twenties. Katie and Tom welcomed their first child together in 2006, six years before their divorce was finalized.

“It’s been nice that our ages fit … how do I put this? Every age that my child has been and my age at that time has been a good match,” Katie told ELLE. “We kind of grew up together.”
