‘The Hills’ Star Spencer Pratt Was ‘Not Surprised’ That Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter Split
After Brody Jenner and his wife, Kaitlynn Carter, announced they were going their separate ways on Friday, August 2, some people were shocked by the news but not Spencer Pratt.
“I’m not surprised,” the 35-year-old said about the split during his podcast called “Make Speidi Famous Again” on August 3. “I think season 2, we’re going to get to see real Brody, and the show is going to be freaking incredible. I think he has way more fun. He’s way less intense. I feel like he has a lot going on … So, I just hope we get to see relaxed Brody, having fun, barbecue, for real Brody. So, that I look forward to.”
Spencer also admitted that he felt like his The Hills: New Beginnings costars Brody, 35, wasn’t happy with Kaitlynn, 30, for quite some time. “I think there’ll be a lot of success in Brody,” he added. “I feel like I said it — that he almost was like a hostage. It felt like he was trying to tell me, ‘Get me out, get me out.’”
However, Heidi Montag, 32, seemed to have a different outlook on the situation. “I didn’t really see that coming, though,” she said. “I just kind of thought they had, like, extreme ups and downs. I didn’t know it would end like that. But who knows, maybe in the future they’ll get back together.”
But Spencer doesn’t seem like that is in the cards for the former flames. “Oh, no,” he said. “My crystal ball says that’s not happening. I don’t think they were ever really together.”
The DJ and Kaitlynn decided to call it quits after five years together on August 2. “They love and respect one another and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward,” Brody’s rep Scott Newman told In Touch in a statement at the time.
In June 2018, Brody and the blonde beauty exchanged vows during a lavish ceremony in Indonesia, but now it’s been revealed they were never actually “legally married.” According to Us Weekly, the pair apparently never followed up to get a marriage license in America. The outlet also reported that Kaitlynn has already moved out of their shared Malibu home.
During the current season of the MTV reboot, the handsome hunk and the New Hampshire native had a very tense relationship. Kaitlynn expressed that she was ready to have a baby while Brody insisted he wasn’t there yet. “While I don’t have kids, I’m gonna pretty much do what I wanna do and live for myself, as opposed to live for another human being,” he said during the premiere episode. “I think that’s why she wants kids — she wants me to change in that way.”
Heidi wishes Brody and Kaitlynn nothing but the best, though. “I hope they both find true happiness and love — whatever they are looking for,” she said.
Guess we will just have to wait until season 2 to find out everything!
