It’s over before it began! Pete Davidson and Margaret Qualley called it quits after only dating for two months, Us Weekly confirmed. “They remain friends,” a source close to the former flames revealed to the outlet on Thursday, October 17. The Saturday Night Live star, 25, and the brunette beauty, 24, were first linked in August. “They’ve been seeing each other for a couple of months, and Margaret is really excited about him,” an insider told the magazine at the time.

The duo made their first public appearance at the premiere of her movie Seberg at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, where they seemed very happy. “Pete and Margaret were standing and chatting [and] laughing,” an onlooker revealed at the time. “There wasn’t much PDA, but he was in a good mood, and the two of them were joking around. Margaret walked to the other side [of baggage claim] to get her bag, and Pete was waiting with an older lady. Pete was super nice and posed for a photo.” During their time abroad, the comedian and the Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood starlet strolled through the streets of Venice, Italy, together holding hands and linking arms.

The Staten Island native previously dated Kate Beckinsale for a little bit of time before they ultimately broke up in April. “They rushed into the relationship and fell head over heels without thinking about the logistics,” a source told In Touch following their split. “It’s one of those whirlwind romances that moved too quickly.”

Before that, Pete was engaged to Ariana Grande — the two started dating in May 2018 before he popped the question a month later. However, the pop star, 26, and Pete got caught up in the moment and eventually decided to break up in October 2018. “The day I met her, I was like, ‘Hey, I’ll marry you tomorrow,’” he told GQ about their fast-paced relationship. “She was calling my bluff. I sent her a picture [of engagement rings]. I was like, ‘Do you like any of these?’ She was like, ‘Those are my favorite ones,’ and I was like, ‘Sick.’”

Ultimately, it seems like Pete is pouring his heartbreak into his work since he made his big return to SNL after a two-week hiatus during the Saturday, October 13, episode.

Onto the next, right?
