Gone too soon. Mandy Moore shared a heartfelt tribute message about her ex, DJ AM (whose real name is Adam Goldstein), on the 10th anniversary of his passing. The This Is Us actress posted a throwback photo of her former flame during happier times on Wednesday, August 28, and revealed how much she still thinks of him after his untimely death in 2009.

“It’s been 10 years,” the 35-year-old began her caption. “There are so many times I still find myself wanting to tell you about something funny or strange or exciting. I miss your contagious, guttural laugh and your hugs. The best hugs.”

Mandy concluded her post, “Miss you every day, but today is always hard.” In the comments, she was flooded with several thoughtful messages from fans. “The pain of losing someone you love never goes away … not completely,” one wrote. “He was great. I’m happy to see you still honoring him after all of these years. I respect and appreciate that a lot,” another added.

The Emmy nominated actress only dated Adam for only two months back in 2007, and they mutually decided to end their relationship shortly after, so there was no hard feelings between them. Mandy and Adam managed to stay friends following their split, as they had known each other for years and built a solid connection.

Back in 2008, Mandy even flew to Georgia where Adam was being hospitalized for burns after surviving a plane crash involving him and Blink 182 rocker Travis Barker. Both of the guys sustained injuries, but the other four people aboard sadly passed away.

Unfortunately, the DJ was tragically found dead at his New York City apartment the following year — on August 28, 2009. Adam was only 36 years old at the time. Adam’s death was later ruled as an accidental overdose, according to the medical examiner.

We’re keeping all of Adam’s loved ones in our thoughts.
