The duo seemed especially distant in the shots. They weren’t holding hands or cuddling up to each other — as you’d expect of most relative newlyweds — when photographers spotted them.

Secret, Secret

The couple was secretly married at a New York courthouse in September 2018, mere weeks after they went public as a couple. They supposedly have plans to do a bigger wedding with their family and friends, a source previously revealed. “Hailey and Justin may already be man and wife, but their low-key court ceremony was supposed to be just a formality before their real big day.”

Upsetting

But a source told In Touch in March that Justin refuses to wear his wedding ring, and it upsets Hailey. “He has a wedding band, he just refuses to put it on,” the insider said. “Hailey wants her marriage to work. Wearing a ring is symbolic, that’s why she wears one. Not wearing one sends a message too, and that’s not the message Hailey wants out there.”

The pics are especially troubling after Hailey went to the Met Gala without her man on May 6. It appears that Justin stayed home while she hit the “pink” carpet alone.

Of course, that wasn’t the first time the “Sorry” singer didn’t go to the shindig. The first and last time that he made an appearance at the Met Ball was in 2015. Fun fact: that was also Hailey’s first time attending!
