Jax Taylor Breaks up With Brittany Cartwright on ‘Vanderpump Rules’ — but Are They Back Together Today?
We’re ready to get off this emotional roller coaster. Vanderpump Rules stars Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright have had quite the controversial relationship (we stlll haven’t forgotten when he admitted to cheating on her earlier this season), and during last night’s episode, Jax had the audacity to break up with Brittany after she’s put up with his sh-t for so long.
At the end of the show, we had to painfully watch their breakup happen after Jax’s meltdown at SUR. He sat Brittany down at their home and told her he’s been “unhappy for such a long time.” But he pulled that “it’s not you, it’s me” card. “This has 150 million percent nothing to do with you. I need to make some changes,” he added. “I’m not happy with myself. I don’t like who I am and it’s not because of you. Look at all the s–t I’ve caused this summer.”
Jax continued, “You deserve to be happy. You deserve to get married. You deserve to have kids. You deserve to have someone treat you like the princess that you are. I am just not that person. I am not good in relationships. You deserve a lot better than me. I just don’t think we can be together anymore.”
Understandably, Brittany was livid. “I’m really pissed off. How dare you do this to me? How dare you put me through all this s—t and let me go through all this heartbreak then for you to sit here and act like you’re the one to give it all away,” she said. “After everything I’ve been through? This is bulls—t! This is complete bulls—t.” She added, “F—k you, I am f—king leaving ‘Cause I don’t want to be with you.”
But don’t fret, this fake split happened in August 2017, and now, eight months later, the couple has reconciled and are back together today. Shortly before the premiere of Season 6, Jax gushed to In Touch Weekly that all is well today in paradise. “We’ve been great! We’ve been working out together, we go to our boot camps every morning, I’ve lost 30 pounds, she’s lost weight, she’s looking great, better than ever! She’s happy, she’s doing well,” Jax said of Brittany in September 2017. “I think everyone in life sometimes goes through a slump. I was going through a slump too — I was heavy, I was fat, I was sitting around, sleeping in, eating — we both were. I just thought as a couple, it’s fun to do things together. It was more of a push to each other, you know? We can motivate each other, that’s all it was, and everyone was like, ‘Well, you did this and this and this.’ I’m like, ‘Are you kidding me? Just let me live!'”
Just because he was able to reconcile with Brittany doesn’t mean the season wasn’t hard for him to film. “It’s rough. It’s really, really rough. Out of all the six seasons that we’ve done, this was the worst for me. The worst. I’m absolutely dreading it. I’m probably going to go into hiding,” he said during a Facebook Live once filming was finished. “It’s bad, I mean — there are times where it’s fine but I would say a good 85 percent of it, it’s a rough season. Every season that we do this we’re always like, ‘What is going to happen this season?’ And sure enough — that’s what’s crazy about our show, more stuff goes on when we’re not filming than when we do film, you know?”
Brittany also opened up about her change of heart to E! News in December by sharing that Jax has made some positive changes. “He’s so much better,” she said. “I feel like we’re so much better than we’ve been in a long time.” We guess we’re glad they worked it out, but we’re not going to lie, we wouldn’t mind some more drama in the coming seasons.
