She’s opening up about a past experience. Jameela Jamil addressed the hardships of being a woman in a Twitter post on March 24, and revealed that she was once punched in the face for rejecting a man’s advances. The Good Place actress said that being a female can be “truly, constantly scary” and shared her own story.

Jameela, 33, first posted a message about a recent occurrence, explaining that she was just out shopping with a friend. “Man ogles me. Man then approaches me to give me his number,” she began. “I explain I have a boyfriend but thank him for the offer. Man then threatens my career, saying I better remember that I rejected him. And then shouts at me that I’m low class.”

Several fans shared their thoughts in the comments and one mentioned how it’s “gross” that Jameela had to mention that she was already taken “to let a man down easy” only for it to result negatively. The actress responded to that message, “I once said no thank you to man when I was 19 and didn’t have an excuse … and he punched me in the face.”

“After that whether or not I have a boyfriend, I say I do,” she continued. “Being a woman is truly, constantly scary. It’s like existing on thin ice.”

Jameela later offered a possible solution to the issue, claiming we need to teach children about rejection at a young age, so it will change society’s view of it as a whole. “We need to de stigmatize it, so that it doesn’t feel like the ground is swallowing you up when someone says no, however nicely,” the actress tweeted. “This would lessen their need to lash out.”

Jameela recently made headlines for calling out Khloé Kardashian after the KUWTK star promoted weight loss shakes on Instagram. The actress even started a petition to stop celebrities from advertising toxic diet products via social media. Jameela has proven to be a celebrity that takes a stand, especially when it comes to topics she’s passionate about.
