Matthew Perry Spotted Looking Scruffy on Mystery Date in West Hollywood

What’s going on here? Matthew Perry was spotted looking rather disheveled while on a date with a mystery woman in West Hollywood on November 4. The duo was seen at Dan Tana’s in the California city, In Touch confirmed. The actor was spotted in dark pants and sneakers, a white t-shirt and a plaid overshirt and sported very messy hair in the photos.

This is a rather rare sighting for Matthew, 50, who has sort of fallen off the radar lately — especially when compared to some of his former Friends costars. IMDB showed that his last role was in The Kennedys After Camelot mini-series, in which he played Ted Kennedy. That was in 2017. Before that, he was in a few episodes of The Good Fight the same year and several episodes of The Odd Couple from 2015 to 2017.

To be fair, the Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip actor has had a bit of a rough go of it the last few years. He has struggled with addiction to alcohol and prescription pills in the past and insiders told In Touch in November 2017, “Matthew has been really clever about keeping the fact that he’s relapsed a secret for so long. It’s like he’s in denial,” said one source. An insider explained, “He’s been seen drinking at private members clubs, where he knows he won’t be photographed. His go-to drink is vodka and soda.”

But no word on whether or not Matthew has been dealing with similar issues in the past two years. He did confirm on Twitter in February 2019 that he’s in therapy but mostly shares quippy updates with his followers otherwise.

Since he doesn’t seem to be up to much with his career lately, what are the chances that Matt would appear in a Friends reboot? Don’t hold your breath. Insiders told Radar Online in December 2018 that his battle with substance abuse is stalling any sort of reunion of the sitcom, despite the fact that the girls would “love to do it again,” according to Jennifer Aniston. “The boys are a little less excited about it for some reason,” she reportedly added.
