The Journey of KAZAISU

Since the age of 12, Cox has been entertaining audiences, first appearing on commercials as a teenager, and then as a background vocalist for the great Céline Dion. Cox signed with Clive Davis at Arista Records in the mid-1990s and has skyrocketed ever since. Shortly after embarking on her solo career, she became a household name and, over the years, she has stood side-by-side with megastars like Whitney Houston, Andrea Bocelli, Sarah McLachlan, Josh Groban, and many more. Coupled with a talent for Broadway and film, Cox has graced screens and stages worldwide, bringing new characters into the lives of fans and reaching a worldwide audience. Her travels around the globe have put her in touch with countless cultures, communities, traditions, and food, with one thing remaining constant in every new place that she visited: a good glass of wine. “Enjoying a glass of wine was, for me, one of the best ways to explore a new environment, meet people, and forge connections,” says Cox.

Enjoying a glass of wine was, for me, one of the best ways to explore a new environment, meet people, and forge connections,” says Cox.

After a global pandemic that allowed for deep self-reflection, Deborah decided to harness this symbol of family, friendship, and love into a product to be enjoyed around tables everywhere. As a culmination of what she loves most — travelling, sharing meals with family and friends, and enjoying self-care — KAZAISU is a reminder of the places and cultures where she made lasting memories, fostered friendships, and spent unforgettable experiences. KAZAISU pays homage to laid-back sophistication: keeping up with the demands of life while still taking the time to afford yourself some luxury. From restaurants to night clubs, Coachella to Broadway, Kazaisu is to be enjoyed anywhere by everyone, around tables or with oneself. In crafting the organic wine, Cox says, “I wanted to distill all of these experiences and sensations into one bottle.”

The result? A rosé that is pure and revitalizing on its own, and freshly complimentary to any meal or occasion; a fully organic wine, made sustainably, and crafted with heart-warming moments in mind.

KAZAISU also echoes the unbreakable bond of family and loved ones. The wine’s eloquent and unique name, named after her three children — Kaila, Isaiah and Sumayah — is a reflection of togetherness, family, motherhood and love, all in one bottle. For Deborah, this captures some of the most important aspects of her life and honors those who lift her up each day.

Trips, travels and new experiences helped cement the dazzling location for the production of KAZAISU: Provence, France. KAZAISU grapes are harvested from Chateau Margilliere, a sustainable farming vineyard that uses organic grapes to execute award-winning harvests and beverages. Having carefully selected her partner in this intimate project, Deborah is proud to stand alongside an acclaimed vineyard to bring her vision to life.

Behind the Wine

Behind the love that she shares with her husband and partner, Lascelles Stephens, and her children, Cox has long been an ally for change by empowering Black youth, breaking barriers of gender inequality, and standing with members of the LGBTQ+ community. Beyond her music, Deborah’s travels have allowed her to connect with members of these groups on a deeper level, sharing stories of change and creating heart-to-heart memories. Cox has become an icon among these groups, not only for her amazing dance club hits that lift spirits, but mainly for her open heart and zeal for advocacy. Cox has long promoted this inclusive spirit, performing at numerous Pride events throughout the world and speaking up for equal rights among all communities.

KAZAISU embodies just this: the capacity for change that we gain from experiencing different conversations with those from different cultures, backgrounds, and walks of life. It is Deborah’s hope that KAZAISU will be enjoyed throughout these conversations and be a key to forging friendships and lasting relationships.
