Rapper Lil Wayne — whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. — was hospitalized over the weekend after suffering at least one epileptic seizure. According to TMZ, the New Orleans native was rushed to Northwestern Memorial on Sunday when he was found unconscious in his hotel room at the Westin in Chicago. On Monday, a rep for the Chicago Fire Department confirmed the hospitalization to the Chicago Tribune.

Wayne’s daughter, Reginae Carter — who he shares with ex-wife, Antonia Wright — gave fans an update yesterday and tweeted, “My dad is doing fine everyone! Thanks for the concerns. You guys are amazing,” she wrote, and added, “Oh yeah… and don’t believe everything you hear.”

Currently, the 34-year-old is on tour with Rae Sremmurd and was scheduled to perform at Drai’s Nightclub in Las Vegas on Sept. 3. The club posted an announcement late Sunday that read, “Lil Wayne will be canceling his previously scheduled performance,” and added, “Our priority is the health and well-being of our artists. Everyone at Drai’s wishes Lil Wayne a speedy recovery during this time.” The venue also said T.I. and DJ Franzen will be performing in his place.

Yet this isn’t the first time the “How to Love” singer has been hospitalized for seizures. The rapper suffers from epilepsy, and in an interview in 2013 with the L.A. radio station Power 106, he said, “This isn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I’ve had a bunch of seizures, y’all just never hear about them,” he said at the time. “But the reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest, overworking myself.” Here’s to hoping he takes some time to slow down — and gets well soon!
