He’s going to prison. Teen Mom franchise star Bariki “Bar” Smith’s older brother Troy Seales was convicted of murder as well as other charges on Apr. 6, but his sentencing was held up for months. Not anymore. Starcasm reported that a judge in California handed down Troy’s sentence on Wednesday, Nov. 28, and he was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison.

The charges against Troy stem from a shooting in East Oakland in August of last year. He was arrested on Sept. 12 after a man named Deandre Adams was shot multiple times while driving in Oakland, CA on Aug. 25, 2017. Troy was charged with two counts of great bodily injury — which he denied — and one count of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, which he pled not guilty to.

According to Starcasm, court records show that the 50 years to life sentence is actually two sentences: 25 years for first-degree murder, and a consecutive 25 years more as a result of “a sentence enhancement statute regarding the use of a firearm during the commission of a serious felony.” Troy also got a total of 40 years for additional sentence enhancements, which don’t seem to be consecutive, the outlet noted.

Bar is known for his appearance on Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant, along with Ashley Jones, the mother of his daughter, Holly. He reportedly wrote of the sentencing on Instagram on Nov. 29, “They cheated you big bro I swear they did f–k the police f–k the DA f–k the FEDS and everyone that disagrees 🙏🏽 watch hell freeze over now on my soul… mfs thought I was sick 😂🤦🏾‍♂️ watch me thumb through souls #FreeTroyCampaign,” although no such recent post seemed to be on his Instagram when we checked on Nov. 30.

Ashley wrote of the news on Twitter, “I’m getting a lot of questions about Bars brother Troy but to be honest guys this is a sensitive situation for Bars family and when they are ready to give y’all the details they will. I’m just here for support,” which we think is pretty classy of her.

It’s a sad situation all around, and hopefully, Bar’s family can deal with it privately and little Holly isn’t too impacted by this rough news about her uncle.
