In an exclusive interview with In Touch, singer Ne-Yo shared how being a husband to model Crystal Renay, 27, and a father-of-three has changed him as a singer and a songwriter. He gushed, "It’s made me more cautious about the words I use in my music. Children turn into little tape recorders, and even though things sound cuter coming from them, you don’t want your four-year-old running around shouting [bad] words." The 37-year-old added, "It’s up to parents to make sure their child isn’t a terror," who has a 16-month-old son, Shaffer Chimere Smith Jr., with wife Crystal, and a daughter, Madilyn, 6, and a son Mason, 5, from a previous relationship.
These days, the star is keeping pretty busy. He said, "Between being married and having three kids and my music [his new single, "Another Love Song," is out now] and World of Dance on TV, it’s a bit much," said the Arkansas native.
But somehow, he manages to balance it all. “I enjoy it, and as far as I know, my wife does, too. She doesn’t complain too much, so I think I’m doing something right!” Out of all his roles, though, he admitted being a father and husband are his favorite. “There are two places in the world I can 100 percent be myself and not worry about judgment,” he gushed. “And that is with my wife and kids, which makes them the most important people on the face of the planet to me.” So sweet!
