This is an awesome show of support. Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama are reportedly communicating all the time following her drug overdose and rehab stay, a source told Us Weekly. “Demi and Wilmer are still in constant communication,” the insider claimed, and added that the exes “speak over the phone pretty much every day and see each other often.”

Demi spent three months in rehab after experiencing a drug overdose at her Los Angeles home in July. Us Weekly previously reported that Wilmer visited her in the hospital three days in a row before she went into treatment, so this show of support isn’t new for the exes. The couple dated for six years, and it sounds like they still have a really strong bond even if they’re no longer together.

The insider told Us Weekly that when it comes to Wilmer’s support, Demi, “absolutely does not take that for granted. After her last relapse, she realized how short life can potentially be and it really resonated with her that she could lose everything at the snap of a finger. One of the last things that she would ever want to lose is Wilmer.” They also added that Demi, “never wants to jeopardize her relationship with him, her family or friends, ever again.”

So, is there any chance the two of them could get back together? The source told the publication it’s “not out of the question,” but hopefully Demi’s main focus is more on her health and happiness right now, rather than rekindling an old romance.

On Sunday, Aug. 5, Demi addressed her struggles with addiction and her mental health, and wrote in part on Instagram, “What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet…I want to thank my family, my team, and the staff at Cedars-Sinai who have been by my side this entire time. Without them, I wouldn’t be here writing this letter to all of you. I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.”

Hopefully, with people like Wilmer in her corner, Demi will be able to do just that.
