It's been years of legal battles, but it's finally happened: Ariel Winter is a free girl!
The 17-year-old Modern Family star has officially won her emancipation from her estranged mother, Chrisoula “Chris” Workman. Back in 2012, the teenager accused Workman of being physically and emotionally abusive.
Celebrating the news, Ariel took to Twitter, writing, "I am now officially emancipated!!! I'm really lucky I have an amazing support system and lovely people in my life who have given me the support and guidance to have been given this wonderful opportunity. Most importantly I want to thank @shanelle_gray and my father for their special support regarding this matter, I really couldn't have done it without them."

The teen is now under the care of her 36-year-old sister, Shannelle Gray, with whom she is very close and calls "the most amazing mother and sister out there".
Ariel's mother denied all allegations of abuse and up until now had power over the young girl's earnings.
