Triumphant is how Mariah Carey is feeling these days! Her career's back on track after grabbing the American Idol judging gig for a reported $18 million salary, and now she's releasing her first single in more than two years.
The aptly named “Triumphant (Get 'Em)” features sizzling-hot rappers Rick Ross and Meek Mill. “I wrote TRIUMPHANT when I was going through a difficult time & it helped me get through it. When u hear it, pay attention 2 the lyrics #WIN," the superstar tweeted.
Grammy winner Bryan-Michael Cox, who collaborated on the project with her, is predicting a big hit. "This song is kind of inspirational. It's close to her heart, and I think her fans are going to really, really be emotionally attached to this song,” he says. “I expect that this is going to be one of her bigger albums."
Mariah's new studio album (her 14th), to be released later this year, has been a long time in the making — even before she became pregnant with now-15-month-old twins Moroccan and Monroe. After the star took a break to be with her babies, Bryan-Michael says, “everything picked up right where we left off."
