It's clear that the shocking death of Cory Monteith deeply affected his friends and co-workers on the set of Glee. Today, the show released a short "memorial card" video that pays tribute to the actor, who died last month at the age of 31 following a drug and alcohol overdose.
One by one, Cory's colleagues have been saying goodbye. Jane Lynch teared up while talking about Cory on The Tonight Show, calling him "a real bright light," while Cory's on and off screen girlfriend Lea Michele said simply that "Cory will be forever in my heart."
However, the show must go on. The producers were given a two-week break to rewrite storylines for the upcoming fifth season, which featured Cory's character Finn Hudson heavily. Fox Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly told In Touch that Finn would be killed off the show rather than recast with another actor.
"The third episode will deal with the Finn Hudson character being written out of the show," the exec explained. "That episode will deal directly with the incidents involved in Cory’s passing and the drug abuse in particular."
