MINDHUNTER season 2

Is Mindhunter based on a true story?

The show IS based on real stories, people and killers, but, of course, a few liberties are taken along the way. As for the criminals themselves, their on-screen depictions are pretty spot on.

Who is Mindhunter based on?

The series was originally a true crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit. The main characters of the show, FBI special agents from the bureau’s Behavioral Science Unit are Holden Fold and Bill Trench, who are based on real-life detectives John E. Douglas and Robert K. Ressler. John, 74, was one of the first criminal profilers in the country and traveled the U.S. interviewing our most evil criminals: Son of Sam, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy and Charles Manson. We see his character do the same on the show. As for Robert, who passed away in 2013, he is often credited for coining the term “serial killer.” Also, the fictional psychologist specializing in trauma of serial killers, rapists and kidnappers, Wendy Carr, is based on  Dr. Ann Wolbert Burgess.

Who is the cast of Mindhunter season 2?

The cast of the show consists of Jonathan Groff as Holden Ford (John E. Douglas), Holt McCallany as Bill Trench (Robert K.Ressler) and Anna Torv as Wendy Carr (Dr. Ann Wolbert Burgess). Added to the cast this season is Damon Herriman as Charles Manson, whom he also played in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Who are the serial killers in Mindhunter season 2?

Along with Charles Manson, the serial killers in season 2 are of Son of Sam, Wayne Williams, William “Junior” Pierce and the BTK strangler, Dennis Rader. Season 2 primarily focuses on the Atlanta Child Murders, which still remains partially unsolved.

What year is Mindhunter set in?

The show is based primarily in the 1970s, but more specifically, season 1 starts in the year 1977 while season 2 is set between 1980 and 1981. The Atlanta Child Murders occurred between the years of 1979 and 1981.

Will Mindhunter be renewed for a third season?

Hopefully, but there has been no official confirmation. Season 2 wasn’t confirmed until earlier this summer and season 1 was released almost two years ago. We might be waiting a while for season 3, but it will definitely be worth it.
