Happy Birthday, Dannielynn! Anna Nicole Smith’s Daughter Turns 12 — See What She Looks Like Today

Prepare to feel old AF because Dannielynn Birkhead is practically an adult now. Anna Nicole Smith‘s daughter — whose father is Larry Birkhead — turns 12 years old today and honestly, where the heck did the time go?! 

Her mother, a former Playboy Playmate and actress, died after an accidental drug overdose in 2007, months after Dannielynn’s birth. Larry battled Anna Nicole’s former lover and lawyer, Howard K. Stern, over custody of Dannielynn but was eventually deemed the father after a DNA test. “I remember coming out of this door right here and they said, ‘You can take Dannielynn home to Kentucky or wherever you’re gonna move,'” he recalled in an interview with Us Weekly last year. “And I came out, I was so happy.” 

Although we don’t often see much of the father-daughter duo, we can tell these two are attached at the hip! Dani — who was named after her late half-brother, Daniel Wayne Smith — hangs out with her old man at movie premieres, red carpet events, and even the Kentucky Derby. On what would have been Anna Nicole’s 50th birthday in November 2017, they took a trip to the Bahamas — where the 12-year-old was born — to celebrate her mom’s legacy.

“She’s a good kid and we laugh and have the best times, and she wears me out,” the proud dad gushed to Entertainment Tonight last year. “I’m going on amusement park roller coasters doing 200-foot drops holding on to her and she says, ‘I told you the last time, do not hold on to me!’ Sometimes you just have to say, ‘I gotta let you go and become your own person.’ You can only do so much. Sometimes I’m amazed by the way she handles things.”

However, Larry revealed that the absence of a mother-figure is starting to take its toll as she gets older. “She is clinging to the female teachers,” he told the outlet. “She’s clingy to her girlfriends’ moms and she’ll say things like, ‘Do you want to adopt me? Would you be my honorary mother?’ She tends to do that a lot.” BRB, crying. Luckily, she has an awesome dad in her life!
