It’s over. Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her fiancé, Ken, ended their relationship just four months before their wedding, In Touch can confirm. The 27-year-old — who came into the public eye after the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, in 2015 — and her ex split and they also did “call off the engagement,” Gypsy’s stepmom, Kristy Blanchard, confirmed to In Touch in an exclusive statement.

“The two were planning to get married in January while Gypsy is still in prison, but they have now canceled those plans,” a source told E! News. “Both Gypsy and Ken are brokenhearted over the situation and still have nothing but love for each other. They each intend on taking some time apart to focus on themselves as individuals.”

Back in April, In Touch exclusively revealed that Gypsy and Ken were engaged after they met through a pen pal program at her prison, where she is currently serving out a 10-year sentence for her connection to her mother’s murder.

“She keeps him very private,” Blanchard family friend Fancy Macelli told In Touch at the time. “We’re not going to release his name or anything like that, but she does have a fiancé. That’s something she wouldn’t have ever been able to do with her mom, be engaged!” She added that Ken would visit Gypsy often at prison and that they would talk “at least several times a week if not more.”

But in July, Gypsy’s family members voiced their concerns about how fast Gypsy’s relationship with Ken was moving. “It’s not that they don’t support them getting married or their relationship or any of those things. What they don’t support is this shotgun of a wedding, and they don’t understand why,” Fancy explained to In Touch at the time. “There is nothing that changes [their situation] by them getting married in prison.”
