The Bachelor alum Chris Soules was out drinking heavily and partying at a local hotel bar in Iowa just two weeks before the deadly car crash that killed a fellow farmer, In Touch is reporting exclusively.
Bartender Jennifer Stover, who served him on April 6 at the Franklin Hotel, explains in an exclusive video interview, “Chris had ordered five Jack and Coke doubles, and his friends had ordered him three whiskey shots with pickle juice to chase it.”
“By the end of the night, Chris was slurring his words. I definitely do believe he was intoxicated. Chris was definitely bragging about his status and how he’s no longer just a farm boy anymore,” Jennifer adds.
Chris was involved in a car accident that killed a fellow farmer on the night of April 24. He was driving his white 2008 Chevrolet truck near Aurora, IA, when he crashed into a John Deere tractor, according to the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office.
Kenneth E. Mosher, 66, a local farmer, was behind the wheel. Mosher was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
Chris called 911 and as paramedics arrived he left the scene, and was picked up by someone in a truck. He was arrested at his home near Arlington nearly five hours later, according to police. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with a death, a class D felony. He posted a $10,000 bond Tuesday; his next court appearance is scheduled for May 9.

This isn’t Chris’ first run-in with the law. According to court documents, he has had 14 other offenses in Iowa, the majority of which are vehicle-related including speeding and running stop signs. In 2005 he was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated after which he was fined $500, given a 60-day jail sentence, a 58-day suspended jail sentence and a year of probation.
