Just a little friendly competition! Get ready for another epic season on The Voice with everyone’s favorite TV couple, on and off-screen, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. With Adam Levine’s exit from the show, an insider disclosed to Us Weekly that executives are putting the pressure on the 49-year-old to step up her game — of smack talk, that is.

“Gwen is feeling pressure to fill very big shoes with Adam Levine leaving The Voice,” the insider said. “Expect Gwen to spar a bit with Blake,” the source added. “Executives have encouraged her to do so.”

Adam, 40, and Blake’s banter was a fan-favorite aspect of the competition show for the past 16 seasons. The two friends were the only judges that appeared on every single season of the show’s duration, until now. The Maroon 5 singer announced he was stepping down from the red seat back in May.

“BLAKE F–KIN’ SHELTON. I couldn’t hide my love for you if I tried. Seriously. I tried. Can’t do it,” Adam wrote on Instagram in his announcement. “Our friendship is and always will be one for the books. Whatever this whole surreal experience was, I’m just happy I got to experience it with you. You’re my brother for life.”

Adam’s counterpart, 43, struggled with the news as well. “Having a hard time wrapping my head around @adamlevine not being at @NBCTheVoice anymore,” the country slicker tweeted. “After 16 seasons that changed both of ours [sic] lives. I only found out about this yesterday and it hasn’t set in on me yet.”

Although Adam and Blake will no longer sit on set together, we know we are in for a treat with Gwen back in the game. The rocker and southerner have been together since Gwen first stepped onto The Voice back in 2015. The two are inseparable and make the cutest couple. “She literally makes my day 100 percent better,” he said of the blonde beauty in the teaser for the new season.

Even though Adam won’t be there to ruffle Blake’s feathers, we know the No Doubt singer will give him a run for his money.
