They’re remembering her today. Amy Winehouse died on July 23, 2011, and now, her mother and goddaughter have honored her with social media posts about the late singer. Amy’s mom, Janis H. Winehouse, tweeted a photo of a lit candle and along with a pair of her daughter’s high heel shoes with no caption — but none was really necessary. Dionne Bromfield also remembred her godmother with a tribute on Instagram that featured a photo of the two of them together. “Miss you always but today more than ever, 💕” she wrote on July 23.

Amy infamously battled drug and alcohol addiction, and ultimately died of alcohol poisoning in 2011 at the age of 27. When she died, several other singers and celebrities expressed their shock on social media. For instance, her friend Kelly Osbourne tweeted, “I can’t even breathe right now I’m crying so hard. I love you forever Amy and I will never forget the real you.” Years later, people the world over still stop to remember her on the day she passed, and it’s no surprise that her mom and goddaughter thought of her on the anniversary of her death.
