Nicole Richie is having a blast filming her new NBC series Fashion Star, with designer John Varvatos, Jessica Simpson and Elle Macpherson. In fact, she has been spending so much time with her co-stars, they’ve all started dressing alike. “We all came out onstage wearing the exact same outfit color from head-to-toe,” Nicole tells In Touch. See what else the fashion icon shared with In Touch when we sat down for a one-on-one interview:
Who was your fashion mentor growing up?
Nicole: I would say the person who had the biggest influence on me was my mom. I'm lucky because she actually saved all of her clothes and passed them down to me.
Will you save your clothes for your budding fashionista daughter Harlow?
Nicole: I'm definitely going to try, most of my clothes are vintage and they're already falling apart, so I'm going to try to hold them together as long as I can.
How would you describe your personal style?
Nicole: I like to have fun with fashion.
Are there any celebrities you think have great style?
Nicole: I'm a huge fan of Stevie Nicks.
What are your summer and fall must-haves?
Nicole: My summer must-have is a great vintage headscarf. It's just a great accessory if the hair is not working. My fall must-haves are a very high, classic black pump, a snakeskin clutch, and a good blazer.
Biggest fashion splurge?
Nicole: I wouldn't mind splurging on a bag every once in a while. But I also shop at thrift stores and a lot of my clothes are $5 or $10.
And finally what is the worst trend you ever took part in?
Nicole: When I was 13, I shaved my eyebrows in the shower! I thought I was shaving the middle but when I came out they were gone. My mom got so mad at me, she said, ‘What did you do?’ I was like, ‘Mom, I don't know what happened, they just fell out.’ She was like, ‘You're going to regret this.’ And I did, I had no eyebrows for about a year.
