Police have captured the suspect in the shooting death of rapper Nipsey Hussle, less than 48 hours after he was gunned down outside of his clothing store in Los Angeles. The suspect, 29-year-old Eric Holder, was reportedly located in Bellflower, CA, and is now in custody.

“The Bellflower Police Department has detained a man that they believe is the suspect in the Nipsey Hussle murder,” Los Angeles Police Department Officer Lomeli tells In Touch.

The news was later confirmed via Twitter. “Eric Holder, the suspected killer of Nipsey Hussle, has been arrested and is in police custody. Thank you to both our community for the heightened awareness/vigilance, and our partners at @LASDHQ,” the social media post read.

“Today around 1:15 p.m. a member of the public called the police to report seeing a person they believed to be Eric Holder in the 9900 block of Artesia Blvd in Bellflower,” the updated press release revealed. “Los Angeles County Sheriff deputies responded and detained the man. South Bureau Homicide detectives responded to Lakewood Sheriff’s Station and confirmed the person is Eric Holder. Holder was transported to a LAPD facility and will be booked for murder.”

According to CBS2, LAPD Chief Michel Moore recently told reporters that Holder approached Hussle, whose real name was Ermias Asghedom, and the other men he was with several times on March 31. He claimed Holder then returned with a handgun and opened fire.

As we previously reported, Hussle died in a shooting at Marathon Clothing on Slauson Avenue, according to a law enforcement source. The Grammy-nominated artist was only 33 years old at the  time of his death and he leaves behind a loving girlfriend, Lauren London, as well as two children.

Fans from all over the world are overcome with grief over his untimely passing. Hundreds of his biggest supporters gathered to pay their respects to the rising star after his tragic death. Several people showed up to the same clothing store he was fatally shot outside of to mourn — bringing flowers, candles and more to celebrate his beautiful life and legacy.

Before the fatal shooting, the rapper tweeted a chilling message. “Having strong enemies is a blessing,” he wrote. Hussle recently reached new heights in his career, having dropped his first studio album, Victory Lap, in 2018, which was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammys. Our thoughts go out to his loved ones during this devastating time.
