RIP. Nipsey Husslepassed away on Sunday, March 31, after he was shot outside of his Los Angeles store. The rapper has been dating actress Lauren London for five years and they share a 2-year-old son, but how exactly did the duo first start dating? Lauren, 34, and Nipsey started dating in 2013. They actually met for the first time when she visited his store on Slauson Ave in Los Angeles.

A Modern Love Story
“I did not slide into his DMs. My homeboy did,” Lauren told GQ magazine of how she and Nipsey (real name: Ermias Asghedom) began talking. The California native bought Nipsey’s mixtapes and started following him on Instagram. So, he followed her back and messaged her. Since then, they’ve been together for five years.

Bump in the Road
However, in 2017, the couple broke up. “@LaurenLondon and I had a dope relationship and made a beautiful child,” the “Racks In The Middle” crooner said on Twitter at the time. “We are deciding to separate and raise our son together as the main priority.”

He continued, “This was a mutual choice and we will function with each other as family with love and respect.” The pair was clearly back together at the time of his death, though.

Don’t Believe the Rumors
In 2018, there were rumors going around that the Grammy nominee cheated on his lady. Lauren quickly defended their relationship on Instagram, writing that they were “so good” and asking, “why all the hate? All these random, fake-ass rumors?”

One Big Happy Family
Nipsey and Lauren welcomed their first child named Kross together on August 31, 2016. Nipsey also has a daughter from a previous relationship named Emani — he took her to the 2019 Grammy Awards where he was nominated for Best Rap Album of the year.
