Late Rapper XXXTentacion’s Girlfriend Gives Birth to Their Son 7 Months After His Death

His legacy still lives on. Late rapper XXXTentacion‘s girlfriend Jenesis Sanchez gave birth to his son, just three days after what would have been the rising hip-hop star’s 21st birthday. X’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard, announced the birth of her grandson via X’s Instagram on Saturday, January 26, and she also revealed the little boy’s name.

“Yume has officially arrived,” read the text post shared on X’s (real name: Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy) Instagram story.

Cleopatra and Jenesis revealed more details about Yume’s birth in a statement obtained by People, and they revealed that X chose the name for his little boy before his untimely death.

“XXXTentacion’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard, and Jenesis Sanchez are thrilled to announce the arrival of baby boy Gekyume Onfroy — born January 26, 2019. We’re happy to confirm that Baby and Mother are healthy,” the statement read. “Gekyume’s name is derived from a word X created prior to his passing, which means ‘a different state’ or ‘next’ universe of thought. XXXTentacion specifically chose this name for his first-born son; his family is honored to fulfill his wish and shower baby Gekyume with love.”

The “Don’t Cry” was murdered on June 18, 2018, after he was fatally shot while motorcycle shopping in South Florida. Local law enforcement believes was a robbery, and four people have since been arrested in connection to the crime, according to the Miami Herald.

X was poised to become one of the biggest names in hip-hop after he rose to fame as a SoundCloud rapper. After his death, his management team has gone on to release a number of singles, music videos, and an album posthumously on his behalf.
