In news that will officially give you a case of the heebie-jeebies, a Radar Online report has revealed that the home where Chris Watts murdered his wife, Shannan Watts, and two young daughters, Bella and Celeste, will officially be up for auction. According to the outlet, the convicted killer was recently given notice by a bankruptcy attorney that his Colorado house will be sold to offset his debts. He was given a deadline by which he needs to pack up all of his belongings — although, seeing as he’s in jail, he’ll have to get someone else to do that for him.

“Notice is hereby given that I will at public auction on Wednesday April 17, 2019, sell to the highest and best bidder for cash,” the attorney wrote per Radar‘s story. According to the documents they obtained, Chris still owes $349,938.09 for his home, which he purchased at a price of $392,709. Neighbors have told the site that Shannan’s family has already retrieved her belongings, but that the killer’s things are still in the home.

“He will most certainly not be transported back to Colorado to obtain his belongings,” a staff member at the Colorado Office of the Attorney General clarified for Radar. “If there are belongings, he would have to arrange to have his family pick them up. He can’t just go home – he’s in jail for murder.”

We can’t imagine buying a house that comes with such bad juju in it, but someone is sure to nab the place. After all, there are plenty of true crime fans out there in the world, not to mention all the fans of Chris Watts specifically. According to Inside Edition, the killer has already become the recipient of a generous amount of love letters from women convinced that he’s innocent, that he has a connection with them, or who simply want him to see pictures of them in a bikini. We’re sure one of them would be more than happy to buy his house for him — though if they’re looking for romance, well, just look how that turned out for his mistresses.
