One year after Aaron Hernandez‘s death, his former fiancée and widow Shayanna Jenkins has given birth to a baby girl with a former college teammate of the late New England Patriots player. Shayanna welcomed her daughter on June 16 with her baby daddy Dino Guilmette— and the couple is reportedly happy and excited about the new addition.

TMZ broke the news of the birth, with Shayana, who has five-year-old daughter Avielle from her relationship with Aaron, sharing a pregnancy announcement just one month earlier. “I couldn’t be a luckier woman to have such a perfect little girl that’s prepared to become the best big sister, and even more blessed to welcome another babygirl to our home,” she wrote at the time. Dino also opened up about the pregnancy shortly after, confirming he was the father, and not Aaron as speculated by fans.

“I’m going to have my hands full but I’m happy about it,” Dino told Radar Online. “I’m excited. It’s my daughter. She will have two sisters. I have another daughter from a previous relationship and then there’s Shayanna’s daughter with Aaron. It’s very exciting.” Dino, who played with Aaron at the University of Florida, also believes the controversial athlete would be excited about the baby news. “Aaron had demons; we all know that,” he added. “But he really was devoted to his daughter. Boy, did he love her. I think he’d be very glad to know that she was going to have a little sister.”

Last April, Aaron commited suicide while behind bars for the murder of Odin Lloyd. His death came just days after he was acquitted of of two murder charges related to a 2012 drive-by shooting in Boston. It was later revealed that the NFL star suffered from severe brain damage, and was diagnosed with Stage 3 CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) following his death. One month after his suicide, his murder conviction was vacated as his appeal had not been heard at the time of his death.
