It’s been more than a decade since America was rocked by one of the most horrifying mysteries — the disappearance and death of Laci Peterson. And while — unlike many other crimes that captivate the nation — her death was actually solved, to this day, there is still intrigue surrounding the awful murder of the Laci and her unborn son, Conner.
Dateline will be revisiting the case on a special called The Laci Peterson Story: A Dateline Investigation.
Check out everything you need to know about this special.
When and where does it air?
The Laci Peterson Story is a two-hour special airing tonight, April 21, at 9 p.m. on NBC.
What will be revealed?
A sneak peek of the special promises to show newly unearthed interrogation footage of Scott Peterson — Laci’s husband.
Additionally, the special will feature interview with retired Modesto Police Detective Allen Brocchini, who was involved in the case.
Who killed Laci?
Her husband, Scott, was found guilty of killing both Laci and their unborn child. It’s believed that his motive was “a desire to be single,” as he had been having an affair before Laci’s death.
Was Laci's body ever found?
Laci and Conner’s bodies were found washed ashore in March 2003, months after she vanished on Christmas Eve the following year. They were able to confirm that the bodies belonged to Laci and her unborn son, but they were too badly decomposed for coroners to find a cause of death.
Where is Scott Peterson today?
The 44-year-old is currently on death row at San Quentin State Prison after being charged with first-degree murder for the death of Laci and second-degree murder for the death of their unborn son, who they planned to name Conner.
He was sentenced to death by lethal injection in 2005, and has remained on death row since.
