Their identities have been revealed. Tarzan actor Ron Ely’s wife, Valerie, was the woman tragically found dead by police inside his California home on Tuesday, October 15, and their son, Cameron, was determined as the suspect. In a news release shared on October 16, it was confirmed that Cameron was fatally shot after being confronted by deputies.

“At 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at the home of actor Ron Ely,” the statement from law enforcement began. “Upon arrival, deputies contacted Ron Ely and discovered his wife, Valerie Lundeen Ely, 62, deceased with multiple stab wounds inside the home. While on scene, deputies identified the suspect as the Elys’ son, 30-year-old Cameron Ely.”

“Deputies searched the residence and surrounding area for Cameron Ely,” the statement continued. “During the search, the suspect was located outside the home. He posed a threat and in response 4 deputies fired their service weapons at the suspect, fatally wounding him. No deputies were injured during the confrontation with the suspect.”

“The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is conducting criminal, coroner’s, and administrative investigations of this incident. Autopsies of both the victim and the suspect are pending. The names of the involved deputies will be released at a later date.”

Just one day ago, reports surfaced revealing there had been a potential homicide in the Hope Ranch neighborhood. Ely and his beloved late wife, who happens to be a former Miss Florida, have been married since 1984 and they share three children together: Kirsten, Kaitland and Cameron.

Ely is mostly recognized for his role as Tarzan in the series which aired in 1966. He also appeared on hit television shows like Wonder Woman, The Love Boat and on a revival for Sea Hunt. Authorities recently confirmed he’s “alive and well.”

“We had initially called in the air support unit and neighboring law enforcement agencies to come help in the search and when we were able to locate the suspect on the property of the homicide, and after the confrontation, we lifted the shelter in place,” Santa Barbara Sheriff Lieutenant Erik Raney previously revealed to KEYT during an interview.

“We don’t believe there is any further threat to the public.”
