Who wouldn't want to look as suave and debonair as George Clooney? News of a debut fashion line by the enduring Hollywood hunk seemed like a no-brainer. But it turns out it was just a scam. Eonline.com reports that two people in Milan, Italy, are under investigation for alleged fraud and that a cache of clothing and watches — and fake documentation, signed with the name "George Timothy Clooney" — was seized by Italian police. The unnamed pair allegedly launched the clothing line, dubbed GC Exclusive by George Clooney, with phony press releases detailing the Michael Clayton star's involvement.
When George heard the news, he swiftly ushered a denial. "This is a hoax," he said in a statement last month. "I have no connection whatsoever with any clothing line bearing my name, and more specifically, GC Exclusive by George Clooney." And just yesterday, while in Rome promoting his new football film, Leatherheads, he reiterated his position. "If someone tries to sell you clothes or watches that are based on me, don't buy them."
